| 1. Written by jay on March 18, 2011 I deposited a check friday, they told me it wouldn't be available til monday. I'm fine with that. My concern is, when i looked at my account online 10 minutes after the deposit, it says that the funds are placed on hold. this concerns me. does it mean that they are just waiting for the check to clear? or did a third party that i may owe money to just put a hold on it within 5 minutes? |
| 2. Written by Jay on November 10, 2009 I have a similar problem with Charter One. They are cheating my mom too. Plus they have very arrogant employees at the Skokie, Illinois branch. First they dont show the correct number or balance on online banking. I transferred some money to my mom's acount. They transferred the money twice so one of the checks bounced. Then they put a hold on my mom's account. We went and asked the branch manager for help. The assistant manager Casey V Vega was very condescending, incompetent and of course inconsiderate. Can it get better than this? If possible close your accounts with Charter One. Their online site sucks plus their branch office personnel are perhaps trained to deceive . |

Written by Barbara on October 9, 2009 While I understand your feelings and I have been in the same position, I just wanted to add that Charter One did not receive any money from the US government. They are owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland, who is now 70% owned by the UK government. RBS takes everything they can get from their customers and Citizens/Charter One follows their rules. They suck. |
