Charter One Bank complaint
Charter One well accually Citizens Financial Group in RI has got to be one of the most stealing banks in the country. Even if I have money in the bank to cover 2 checks they regroup the incoming checks to their benefit so they can get 3 overdraft fees insted of just one. This is the second account they have messed up.

I have a complaint with the comptrolls office of the treasury now. ya know it is not the branch people that I have a problem with because almost all of them agree with me that this is a serious problem and they cannot do anything about it. So beware of Citizens Financial Group that is stealing and love to make their money off their so called loved customers. They make it so that there is a snowball effect to make more money on those so called fees.

These sites are so funny. Everyone loves to blame banks for not balancing your account and for not understanding how things are paid. If you have 1,000 dollars in your account and write a 900.00 check guess what? Until that check is cashed you still techincally have 1,000 dollars in your account. So if you are like 99% of the other morons out here you forget about that 900.00 check and go on spending money like you didnt write that check. Then one day the person you wrote that 900.00 check decides to cash it. Wow! The balance on the ATM the day before was like 800.00 how did it get to negative -100.00 plus 4 more pending charges an their fees? Could it be that you decided to spend money you didnt have? nah, must be the banks fault. Or when you try and work the float time and things clear faster or slower than you wanted to. Should you do that? Is spending more money in your account and writing checks for money you dont have an ethical pracitce? Nope, but go ahead and do it anyway, it's the Banks fault. Millions of customers use their accounts everyday with no charges whatsoever, I love these forums, you see stupidity personified.

Regardless of if you balance your check book or not, there are too many ppl who have been scorned by them. I am a college student and I loved charterone they were they first account I opened and recently I have had numerous problems from them, they are not here for us...

How can you balance a check book if they numbers you check are all wrong? I mean If u never start out with an accurate number how can u do a good job?

I AM NEGATIVE 100.26 CENTS AND I CAN'T EXPLAIN IT!!

Ballance your check book you say, go ahead and try to validate your check book against one of their systems, phone in and get a ballance, then go to an atm and see the ballance doesn't match, then go online and get a third ballance, what information is right????

I have to agree that ballancing your check book can avoid some serious problems but this is one of those banks that has changed policy recently to hold items longer and to charge customers based on date of debit/credit purchases instead of the way they used to do things so that they can charge people fees until they learn the new rules, of course if you call their 1800 number you will get the runaround and no info that these are new policies, and then go into one of your friendly branches and they'll tell you that it's a new policy but they can't do anything to help you, the bank is automated and you have to call customer service to get a charge reversed, of course that won't happen in a million years since there trying to keep their heads above water after screwing as many homeowners as possible, and causing some of these foreclosures themselves.

The posting order is never an issue unless your account goes negative. Go by you written ledger, never write a check, agree to a debit or use your card until you have those funds available. If you cash a check at the bank, to deposit cash, be warned the cashed check will be held against you available balance until the check is verified, allow a full business day before relying on those funds!

Hey Jack,

almost every bank pays checks from highest to lowest. That is why it may seem you would have funds if they paid 2 of your smaller ones first but that isnt standard. highest checks are paid first as a common courtesy to customers. what if the bank paid lowest first but you had a mortgage check come through "last" and it got returned as compared to the $40 check you wrote out. what would you rather have returned.

the comptroller is not going to do anything for you but i do have a simple solution for you. so simple you wont believe it.

its called BALANCE YOU CHECK BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
